The Dentist Showrod/Toothache - FINI

Today I started a new Showrod build using the AMT Digger Cuda as a basis:



However, that kit will mostly donate some frame-parts , front axle and engine. The rest will be "my wild imagination" along with bits and pieces from everywhere.....

I cut off the rear portion of the frame, then widened the rest of the frame:



Front axle got some extra width as well:



And here's where it's going now.....

I like this kind of crazy projects !!!

Thanks for the positives! Next to do is the rolling stock.... Rear tires w skull-pattern !

Had to do another mockup this morning to try different stances....Think this is about right uh???



And, I also started on the engine this morning:

Thanks, the "skull tires" were cut out from motorcycle handlebar grips! I bought them at "wish.com" for a few bucks.

Redoing th eengine/tranny a little. Adding starter and such....



Also adding some extras to the rear axle:

Widened the front axle last night:



And, this evening I fabricated and attached the front engine mounts:

Testmounted the engine and wheeliebars in progress.....

Excellent !
It looks like those crazy show rods from the 60's & 70's (like Tom Daniel's...)

Thanks, yes the old Tom Daniel design has always inspired my work when it comes to showrods. And in my collection I have most of the TD kits that've been issued over the years.

I don't always build them box stock as I like to add a few personal touches. I also love building "showrods" of my own design using other "non showrod kits" as a basis for my own crazy stuff such as these:

Just like you, I collect & build Tom Daniel's models (but I always try to respect the box art myself, even the colour).

And yes, the Traction is incredible, I love the row of exhaust headers & the clear blue german helmet (as spring wrote)
The Mini & VW Beetle are your model-versions of old Matchbox designs, aren't they ?

Yep, the Mini and the VW were inspired by the Matchbox/Lesney 1/64 die-casts. I have them as well in my collection

Done some minor work on the frame, rear axle and engine today:
