This morning , before going to work, I cut 4 small strips of half round evergreen and glued in place over the "grille-openings" :

Well.....let's just say that this drawing has been my inspiration so far. Colour-wise we'll all have to wait and see

Body put aside for now. Building the chassie in traditional early VW stance style here's the rear suspension:

Nothing, just left over material. Now it's done and test-mounted:

As always on the Gunze VW's , I move the shifter a bit to the left for it's correct "offset" position:

Why is the transmission tunnel so cracked ? It looks like a bad resin casting.

The styrene plastic has reacted on the liquid glue.

OK, so I might be something of a nerd when it comes to certain details, but I just love detailing my model kits. The ventilation slots in the package shelf are extremely visable through the window, so I opened them up:



Also tested the front seats, pirated from an old Esci set of the Renault 5 :

I grinded away the cast-in rails on the floor and then sectioned the stock seat-supports about 1,5 mm to make the front seats sit lower:

i love the idea for the seats and the way to adjust the height !

I had to cut away the headrests as they reached all the way to the headliner. I actually think the front seats look better without them....

You are right, they look better (more vintage). With the headrests, they looked more rallye-style.

Today I got some paint on the wheel-centerpieces which will later be glued into chromed outer rings. Paint is pure white with a "gentle touch" of pink pearl:
