First I drill 2 small holes. Then I just cut a score between the holes, Clean the score up with a Nail-file and finally I take a short piece of Evergreen halfround rod that fits in the score and glue it in Place.

Now, there's a hole in the roof and I've widened the chassie a Little just behind the front Wheels.

It's a good idea to make it an open roof

This week I only had one day off work, so I really didn't have much spare time for modelling. However, I did manage to get a couple of hours in the mancave and here's the result. I've started scratchbuilding a Porsche Fan shroud for the engine, partly from a Fujimi Porsche and some other scrap parts (from a 1/8 scale Honda 750 cc bike!!!!)





As I didn't like the stock "firewall" i cut it off, and replaced it with a somewhat modified piece from another VW-kit:




I also found a simple roll-bar in my stash:

I'm also considering building a turbo for the engine, and of course it'll run dual webers!

Where will you find Webers carbs ?
I think that a turbo may be too fragile for intense off road racing

You may have a good point about the turbo

Weber carbs aren't that uncommon in scale and I do have quite a few in my parts box.

I made some progress last night. Still not sure if this Engine will be used as I have a Porsche Turbo Engine on it's way home. It was given to me from a kind fellow modeler in Belgium! Thanks Marc!!!!!

I've kept working on the Engine but also started building a rollbar;

Unfortunately the Porsche-Engine doesn't look as good in the rear as I'd hoped for, so I'll stick to the VW-Engine:

Je trouve un peu dommage de mettre un V8 dans un baja, on s'éloigne de l'idée de départ de la coccinelle et du moteur refroidis par air. Un flat 6 de Porsche ou de Corvair, ok. On voit même des moteurs SUBARU dans des VW.

you are very crayzycut a gear box of this kit and glue another, it come from the meyer manx kit ?

I really don't know what kit the gearbox comes from...I just found it in my parts-box. Could be the manx or the California Buggy from Revell ??? It looks pretty good though!
